Overview

Everest for Breakfast is the easiest, most exhilarating way to meet Mount Everest. In a single morning a helicopter carries you from Kathmandu over glaciers, high lakes and the Khumbu Valley, past Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, to Mountain Lodges of Nepal's lodge at Kongde for breakfast with the world's highest peak in full view.

There is time to wander in the snow and celebrate with a Champagne picnic before the flight home. No trekking and no long days on the trail, just four unforgettable hours in the high Himalaya.

Highlights

  • Sunrise helicopter flight from Kathmandu into the Everest region
  • Bird's-eye views of glaciers, high lakes, monasteries and stone hamlets in the Khumbu
  • A fly-over of Everest Base Camp and a photo stop at Kala Patthar
  • High-altitude breakfast at MLN Kongde with Everest's pyramid tip in sight
  • Time to wander in the snow, with an optional Champagne picnic
  • Back in Kathmandu by late morning, no trekking required

Your Hosts for the Morning

Mountain Lodges of Nepal hosts this experience from start to finish. Experienced mountain pilots fly the route, and the team at MLN Kongde welcomes you for breakfast with the Everest massif across the valley.

Flights are weather-led and altitude-aware: time on the ground is kept short and comfortable, and every decision is made with your safety first.

Experiences

Sunrise Lift-Off

Kathmandu - Lukla

The morning begins at 6:30 AM at Kathmandu Airport, where your helicopter lifts off as first light spills across the valley. Glaciers, high lakes and the long white wall of the Himalaya come into view as you fly east to Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu.

Everest Base Camp Fly-Over

Kathmandu - Gorak Shep

After a short stop in Lukla you take to the air again for the moment the morning is built around: a sweep over Everest Base Camp, with the Khumbu landscape stretching out below like a living postcard.

Kala Patthar Photo Stop

Gorak Shep

The helicopter continues to Kala Patthar, the classic viewpoint above Base Camp, where the Himalaya fills every frame. Take your time with the camera; this is the view trekkers spend well over a week walking to reach.

Breakfast at MLN Kongde

Kongde

Then it is on to Mountain Lodges of Nepal's lodge at Kongde for a true high-altitude breakfast. Settle in with a warm plate and hot drinks while the unmistakable pyramid tip of Mount Everest rises across the valley.

Snow, Champagne and the Flight Home

Lukla - Kathmandu

Before leaving, step out into the snow around Kongde, breathe in the crisp mountain air and, if you like, raise a glass at a sky-high Champagne picnic with Everest in full view. Then board the helicopter for the flight back to Kathmandu, home by late morning with a story you will tell for years.
